Coolum Community and Birtwill businesses asked, “Are You OK?”

Representatives from local businesses came together in the official colours of yellow and black for R U OK day in Coolum.

IT WAS a day of community connectedness on Thursday, September 14 with businesses along Birtwill St collectively coming together to shine a light on mental health for national R U OK? day. The morning featured lots of great food and prizes and almost $600 was raised for the national charity. Most importantly though, the conversation around mental health was had. Remember to always check in on friends and strangers by either simply saying “hello” or “Are you OK?” and starting the conversation from there.

Above and Beyond Disability Solutions who rallied the business for the day would like to thank Amore Pizza, Coolum Corner, Sports & Spinal, Dancanphoto, Gazman, XTM, VISSLA, Nomadi Coolum, Coolum News, Dollar Tree, Innate, Studio Pilates, Dan Purdie MP, F45 Coolum, Coolum Mitre 10, BCF and Palm Creek Estate.

R U OK? contributes to suicide prevention efforts by encouraging people to invest more time in their personal relationships and building the capacity of informal support networks – friends, family, and colleagues – to be alert to those around them, have a conversation if they identify signs of distress or difficulty and connect someone to appropriate support, long before they’re in crisis.

If you need immediate help or assistance please call Lifeline at any time on 13 11 14.
