It was a fun-filled day of colour in the sunshine on Wednesday, September 21 as Queensland Cricket facilitated a ‘Girls Colour Blast’ day at the Coolum Cricket Club (pictured).  The day served as a great opportunity to introduce cricket to girls in a fun and inclusive environment and there is more introductory cricket with a come and try day set for October 5. The inaugural Sunshine Coast Cricket Association (SCCA) Junior Girls Cricket League is for girls aged from 10 to 14, who are either new to cricket or have played Master Blasters. As it’s an introductory season, the first few weeks will be using aids such as hitting tees and softer balls and once their skills are up, the girls will progress to using no tees and harder balls towards the end of the season.  Coolum Sharks cricket club will be hosting a ‘Girls Come and Try Day’ on October 5 from 4pm at the Ron Cargill Oval, Coolum. So, if you think you might have the next all-rounder or leg spinner then come along for the introductory evening and see what cricket is all about!
