NINDERRY MP Dan Purdie is encouraging locals to make the most of the Coolum winter weather and get bowling this weekend for a good cause.

On Sunday, Variety Bash participant Andrew Carpenter will host an afternoon of barefoot bowls at the Coolum Beach Bowls Club as part of his fundraising efforts for the upcoming Variety Bash.

Andrew and his team, the Aussie Bush Bashers, which includes his wife Leesa and son Brock will head off in their 1978 Holden HZ station wagon at the end of August on the 10-day bash through outback Queensland, travelling from Winton to Yeppoon via Birdsville.

Each team needs to raise $8,500 to enter the competition, with all money supporting sick and disadvantaged kids in need. Come along and help Andrew and the Aussie Bush Bashers raise funds for Variety Children’s Charity QLD with a friendly game of barefoot bowls from 1pm this Sunday, June 5 at the Coolum Beach Bowls Club.
