Coolum Cricket season ends with success all round

It was a big season at Coolum Cricket with the club fielding many great wins across the season with one of the highlights being the win by the Senior Men’s Division 5 team who won their grand final over the weekend. The team led the for the season and during the grand final, which was a three-day event played across two weekends, the team took seven wickets for the win with six of those taken by Mick Balestra. Despite lots of rain interruptions across the season, Coolum Cricket went from strength to strength and is one of the fastest-growing clubs on the Sunshine Coast. COOLUM cricket hosted their first annual ‘Lads V Dads Challenge Cup’ on Saturday March 22 with the Dads taking home the cup in what was a close day of cricket action.

In a huge upset, the Dads were the surprise victors and have earned 12 months of bragging rights over their sons!

The match was a fun way to say goodbye to cricket for the season which runs each year from October to late March.

The teams which were made up of the players from the fourth-grade cricket team played a 40-over game with the dads just narrowly edging out their ‘lads’ for the win.

Coolum Cricket would love to see as many new players as possible for the 2024-25 season and more information can be found on Facebook at ‘Coolum Cricket’.
