The Australian Labor Party Fairfax branch hosted special guest, Senator Kristina Keneally, on Thursday night at a private function at the Coolum Beach Bowls Club. Senator Keneally was on the Sunshine Coast attending a fundraiser event addressing the party faithful for the Sue Ferguson Labor for Fairfax campaign.  Earlier that day Ms Ferguson ran a very successful community roundtable at the Nambour Community Centre for representatives of the multicultural community and refugee advocates. Senator Keneally spoke to the representatives and made mention of the plight of the Tamill family from Biloela.

“It is an absolute disgrace that this family has had to spend three years in detention at a cost of $50 million to the Australian taxpayer, not to mention the significant expense to the family members’ health and mental well-being,” Senator Keneally said.
