ALP candidate for Fairfax Sue Ferguson has been busy of late getting out into the community and trying to meet with as many people as possible to find out what matters to them in regard to the upcoming federal election with housing security coming off as one of the big issues of concern.
“I have been meeting with many members of the community whose housing situation is precarious. We don’t often consider the plight of people who whilst they have a roof over their heads, are seen to be safe. However, they have been forgotten by the Morrison government which has ceased their housing support packages and when those rental supports run out, they will have nowhere to live. There are hundreds of people across Fairfax who face eviction with the inability to pay full-priced market rents without government support. I will continue to lobby strongly for their plight to be recognised,” Sue stated.
“Out speaking to Fairfax residents, it is pretty clear that there is not a lot of hope or caring out there. So, it was terrific to meet young Amelia who is determined to be Prime Minister one day.”
The Advertiser will be asking each of the candidates for the seat of Fairfax a series of questions and will be publishing these answers in our May 18 edition and we want to know what is of concern to you and what questions you would like your candidates to answer.
