There are so many community-based organisations in our region always looking for volunteers – one could literally volunteer with a different group on each day of the week. No matter what your interest there is something for everyone and none more worthy than Coolum Beach Meals On Wheels who are needing additional volunteers as a result of COVID. Meals On Wheels provide meals to people within the community and have numerous positions ready and waiting with the most common role being a delivery driver. President Sue Green said that volunteering with Meals On Wheels was a role where you could directly see your impact on the lives of people. “We ask new volunteers what they would like to do – it can be in the kitchen or it can be as a delivery driver and you see the clients when you are delivering their meals and families are happy that we do this. For some clients we may be their only visitor for the week,” Sue said. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are delivery days – and people can pick whichever day or days they want to volunteer or pick another role within the organisation.
