with the new year fast approaching now is the time to start thinking about all of those resolutions and why not make one of them to volunteer either for the first time or more often and one group of that is always on the lookout for more volunteers is the Coolum District Coast Care ‘Weeding Warriors’.

On the first Thursday of every month, Coolum District Coast Care holds a group weeding working bee at one of their many worksites around the region which could see volunteers at either Marcoola, the Stumers Creek dunal area or Yaroomba.

On Thursday, December 2 the group had their final working bee for 2021 with more than 15 volunteers taking time out to help our natural environment and in doing so they managed to clear an outbreak of invasive weeds at the start of the Lions Park watercourse in Coolum – filling more than six large bags which were especially provided for that purpose.

The group enjoyed morning tea with delicious pastries from Ma Boulange Café and were thanked for their contribution to our environment by Council’s Conservation Officer, Nadia Joyce. The lively bunch of friends and keen environmentalists will start back in February and would love to see more people take up volunteering with the group in 2022. For information please phone Linese on 5446 5116 or Google ‘Coolum Beach District Coast Care’ for details on group locations and contacts.
