The recent Saturday afternoon at the Coolum Civic Centre saw the unveiling of ‘Veivers – Tribute to Palladio’ portrait by Coolum local and founder of Coolum HeARTs Clive Holden. The subject, Andrew Veivers is one of Australia’s finest Spanish guitarists and a local resident. Clive, also a guitar player travelled with Andrew and other locals in 2017 to Italy with the Sunshine Coast Guitar Orchestra and the group were fortunate to play in many historic venues – one of these was ‘Vila Caldogno’ which was built and frescoed by artist Palladio in 1570 – the stunning frescoes in the portrait were inspired by Palladio. The unveiling of the portrait which will be entered into the prestigious and richest, ‘Doug Moran National Portrait Prize’ (which Clive has been a finalist of three times) was also accompanied by a brilliant performance by Andrew on his beloved guitar. Around 130 people came for the afternoon of music and art which also featured an exhibition of Clive’s private art class students and a raffle, which raised close to $1,000 for the Coolum HeARTs shed extension.
