Coolum Art Project: One Year Out

COOLUM Art Project (CAP) opened our first exhibition ‘UnChanged’ in December 2024 in Galley Lane, and the latest version is currently there again until February.

The UnChanged format is an exhibition of community contributed photos, and it was incredibly popular last time. This latest show has seven ’now’ photos, which we selected from more than 50 entries. Every one of these images could become an iconic image representing ‘Coolum now’ if it were to be viewed in a decade or more.

The Coolum Art Project is a subcommittee of the Coolum Residents Association [CRA], which is a community group that acts on behalf of residents as well as creating projects in town. The CAP’s purpose is to identify the strategies, opportunities and responsibilities for activating art within Coolum.

We are currently setting out a plan for CAP this year, which will include more exhibitions in the Gallery, renewing some public art, collaborations with other groups such as the Community Garden and, where possible, challenging ideas of what ART is.
