Winner, winner, $100K Christmas dinner!
A COOLUM man had an extra lucky Christmas day with a $100,000 windfall from a scratchie, which was given to him as a present from his uncle.
The man has confessed he hasn’t stopped celebrating since winning the prize on the Instant Scratch-Its he scratched on Christmas Day.
The happy Queenslander’s winning $5 ‘Merry Christmas’ Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Coolum Beach Newsagency, which is located next to Coles Supermarket in Coolum Beach.
“I’m still soaking it in! It’s pretty cool!” the winner laughed when speaking to an official from The Lott.
“I sometimes get a bunch of scratchies as a gift, and this is certainly one of the best Christmas presents I’ve ever got.
The man said he wasn’t exactly sure what he would do with the winnings but a holiday to Bali was probably on the cards.
Coolum Beach Newsagency owner Melanie Parkinson Rogers said there was a sense of déjà vu with this win.
“I was so excited when I heard we’d sold a winning ticket and I had goosebumps as if I had won the top prize myself,” she said.
“Remarkably, the last top prize win we had was exactly the same day eight years ago!
“It’s such a good feeling to know your outlet has provided people with the joy of winning and hopefully improved their lives in some way and congratulations to our winner – what a way to start the new year!”
