BREAST Cancer Awareness Month is an important reminder that breast health matters at every age. Understanding your individual risk, knowing what to look for and staying up to date with appropriate screening can all play an important role in early detection.

Coolum Radiology are proud to be part of the Noosa Radiology network and also supports the McGrath Foundation and the vital work they do to provide specialist breast care nurses to people experiencing breast cancer and their families.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they are offering a complimentary 30-minute breast consultation with one of their breast imaging specialists to all patients who undertake breast imaging during October. The consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your individual risk of breast cancer to optimise your imaging and screening needs, based on your personalised risk and breast density.

The Noosa practice offers the most comprehensive breast imaging service on the Sunshine Coast, offering 3D mammography, contrast enhanced mammography, quantitative breast density assessment, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, personalised risk assessment, mammographic, sonographic and MRI guided biopsy and localisation as well as PET/CT imaging.

The network of radiology practices in Coolum, Noosa, Gympie and Cooroy employs four Radiologists who are subspecialised in Breast imaging.

Dr Drew McMenamin, Dr Todd Malone, Dr Jessica Wong and Dr LiEnn Yapp and two dual-trained radiologists subspecialised in cancer imaging, Dr Lisa Tarlinton and Dr Ben Kelley, provide comprehensive imaging services and reporting.

Dr Lisa Hammerton is a dual-qualified Breast Physician with more than 25 years’ experience in breast health, preventative care and familial breast cancer risk. Dr Hammerton previously served as Senior Medical Officer and Medical Director at BreastScreen Queensland’s Sunshine Coast division.

A consultation includes your individual breast cancer risk assessment, an explanation of breast density and what it means for screening, which will help you understand your breast imaging results and answer questions or concerns about your breast health. A future screening plan based on your individual risk will also be discussed.

For patients who require further assessment, same-day imaging, consultation and biopsy can be completed in one visit. Depending on your individual needs, your appointment may include 3D mammography, contrast-enhanced mammography, breast MRI, breast ultrasound, a 30-minute breast consultation and image-guided biopsy, if clinically indicated.

By supporting the McGrath Foundation and offering complimentary breast health consultations, the Noosa Radiology  group are asking women to prioritise their breast health and to feel confident asking questions about their individual risk and screening needs.

The complimentary consultations are available to the first 30 eligible patients who book breast imaging during October 2026.
