Voting now open now for ‘best of’ in lead up to QLD Day
DOES the local region have the ‘best’ fish and chip or ice cream shop, do we host the best event, make the best coffee, burger or parmi, or do we have the best natural attraction? These are just some of the 15 categories that are in the running to be named ‘Queensland’s Best’.
Last year, Coolum was named ‘best beach’ in Queensland, and this year, it is hoped that more local attractions and businesses will be named one of the ‘best’ in the Crisafulli Government’s 2026 QLD Day Awards and All the Best campaign.
Member for Ninderry and Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Dan Purdie MP, is asking local residents to shine a spotlight on the people, places and businesses that make Queensland great as we celebrate all things Queensland on June 6.
Minister Purdie wants to see Ninderry residents, landmarks and businesses nominated.
“Last year Coolum Beach took out the award for the best beach in Queensland, and now I want to see other fabulous people, places and businesses in Ninderry recognised for their contribution to our great State,” Mr Purdie said.
“We have some outstanding local heroes, quiet achievers and community volunteers as well as recognisable faces and organisations that make Queensland shine, and I’m calling on Ninderry residents to nominate them for the QLD Day Awards.”
Life member of Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Shane Urban, said the campaign raised the profile for the region, especially with interstate visitors, when Coolum was recognised as the ‘best beach’.
“It was fantastic to be acknowledged as the best beach in Queensland, and with the spotlight it gives to businesses and locations, I would highly recommend all Queenslanders get on board and vote,” Mr Urban said.
“The campaign highlighted a lesser-known beach, and now the whole of Australia knows about Coolum Beach.”
Voting is now open across 15 categories in the All the Best program, with each entry giving nominators the chance to take home a massive prize pack.
Nominated businesses can use the online, ready-made promotional materials, such as posters, social media graphics and QR codes, to rally their customers to vote and help them claim the title as one of Queensland’s best.
Queensland Day, held annually on June 6, marks the date the state officially separated from New South Wales in 1859 and became an independent state.
Nominations for All the Best close on May 18, and winners will be announced on June 3.
