FRIDAY December 5 saw volunteers from across the county and internationally recognised for the tremendous work they do unwaveringly within all manner of organisations. From sporting clubs to community groups and rescue organisations such as LifeFlight, these community champions were celebrated.

LifeFlight has more than 200 volunteers who donate their time across many events and locations, such as the Bundaberg Soiree, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba Galas, fundraising initiatives, and the ‘First Minutes Matter’ trauma training.

LifeFlight Foundation Board Chair Stewart Morland said LifeFlight’s volunteers donate hundreds of hours of their time to promote and support the aeromedical organisation across the state.

“Their generosity is unmatched when it comes to supporting LifeFlight in their communities,” Mr Morland said.

“They put their hand up for anything, and there is genuine passion in the way they talk about LifeFlight, and they utilise their connections and expertise to foster LifeFlight’s connection with the communities they serve.”

LifeFlight volunteer Susan Porter has been donating her time to the service for five years and said it’s been a very rewarding experience.

“I saw LifeFlight on the news and saw they were looking for volunteers, and I wanted to give back to my community,” Susan said.

“Give it a go, you’ll be surprised by what you learn about the organisation and yourself.”
