Heavy rain leads to flooding across South East Qld

Warnings issued – 149 roads closed across Sunshine Coast
THURSDAY October 22 has seen parts of South East Queensland and Northern NSW drenched, with the Caboolture region hit hardest with 240mm observed in just six hours.
The heavy falls were expected to ease up by the evening however wet weather would push through across the weekend.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology as at 3pm on Thursday afternoon, 164.4mm in total has been recorded at Sunshine Coast Airport since Monday October 19 with 61.6mm observed so far today.
Due to the amount of rain which has fallen across the road network motorists are being urged to minimise travel where possible.
The Sunshine Coast Council Disaster Hub site shows some 147 state and council-controlled roads closed, extreme caution should be taken on roads and the site checked if your necessary journey involves travel on roads which are known to flood.
In an official release the BOM stated that minor flooding is occurring along both the Maroochy and Mooloolah River, and minor to moderate flooding is occurring along Coochin Creek.
Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
An earlier severe thunderstorm warning which impacted the Caboolture region with significant falls had temporarily eased across the warning area which did include the Sunshine Coast. The BOM did state that the redevelopment of severe thunderstorms remains possible.
