Cyclone Alfred response
OUR big-hearted community’s response to prepare for, and respond to, Tropical Cyclone Alfred was a powerful reminder of the care we have for one another in our community. You only had to spend a short amount of time at the Coolum sandbagging filling station to see this. Inspirational local residents like Daniel and Darcy, who, without being asked or having a formal role, turned up and spent hours and days working alongside selfless volunteers from the SES and Rural Fire Service. Players and parents from the Coolum Colts swapped their boots for shovels to help. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time to help others in the community.
Nominate your community hero for an award
We all know someone who is a real community hero. I can think of many people who are generous with their time, go above and beyond to help others or make our region a better place for everyone. I encourage you to nominate your community hero for the Sunshine Coast Biosphere Community Awards. We’re looking for individuals, organisations and businesses making a positive contribution to our community. Celebrate their efforts by nominating them today. To submit a nomination, visit Council’s website and search ‘community awards’. Nominations close April 30, 2025.
Shade for Power Memorial Park
I’m thrilled to announce the completion of the new shade sails installation at Power Memorial Park, Mudjimba, which has just wrapped up. These three new shade sails are a significant part of the playground upgrade, providing essential sun protection for our community. With these shade sails in place, families can now enjoy the playground safely The new shade will be a welcome feature all year round, promoting sun safety and making outdoor activities more enjoyable for everyone.
