SPRING ROAD TRIP

SUPPORT FOR COOLUM SURF CLUB
As the Surf Lifesaving season gets underway, I want to acknowledge how important the Coolum Beach Surf Lifesaving Club is to our community and the safety it provides for all beach goers. This club gives so much and that’s why I was pleased to see them receive help with a $9,345 Federal Government grant towards their new retractable shade sail which will provide some welcome relief for Clubbies enjoying the member’s terrace.
SPORTING CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to 37 young sportspeople who have received grants of between $500 and $750 to help towards the cost of travelling to state, national or international championships, including:
Lily Bradford of Mount Coolum – Australian Surf Life Saving Championships
Jarvis Miller of Mount Coolum – National Canoe Sprint Championships
Tyson Mitchell of Coolum Beach – Australian Gymnastics Championships
Claire Cameron of Yaroomba – Touch Football State Championships
Sportspeople aged 12-18 can apply before 30 September for the next round of local sporting champion grants at https://www.sportaus.gov.au/.
2022 VOLUNTEER GRANTS
I am inviting local not-for-profit groups to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for grants to support the work of our valued volunteers. Last year, several Coolum clubs benefitted from grants of between $1,000 and $5,000. These grants helped Coolum Beach Meals provide fuel vouchers; training and equipment for Coolum District Netball Association; storage cabinets and fuel vouchers for Coolum HeARTS; a ride-on mower for Coolum Beach Lions Club; equipment and a laptop for Coolum Community Native Nursery and two new laptops and a printer for Coolum Quota Club.
