MOTORISTS travelling between Coolum, Peregian and Noosa can expect a safer drive, with another round of upgrades about to begin on a busy stretch of Eumundi-Noosa Road.

The Queensland and Australian Governments will deliver safety improvements along a one-kilometre section of the road between the Emu Mountain Road roundabout and Lenehans Lane at Doonan.

The route is one of the main links for Sunshine Coast residents heading north to Noosa, while also carrying heavy traffic to the Eumundi Markets and other popular tourist destinations.

The project includes road widening and resurfacing, wider centre line treatments to create greater separation between oncoming traffic, audio tactile line marking, new guardrails in selected locations and the removal of roadside hazards. Sealed shoulders and improved road markings for cyclists will also be added.

The upgrades are designed to improve safety for all road users, with the wider centre lines expected to reduce the risk of head-on crashes and provide a smoother journey through the area.

The latest works build on safety improvements completed last year between Lenehans Lane and Beckmans Road, continuing efforts to improve one of the region’s busiest transport corridors.

Construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks and finish by early 2027, weather permitting.

To reduce disruption, work will be carried out during both day and night shifts from Sunday to Friday. Motorists should allow extra travel time while the project is underway.

The project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Road Safety Program, with each contributing 50 per cent of the cost.

Residents are being thanked in advance for their patience while the improvements are completed.
