Police seek information on wounding and fatal traffic crash

CAR CRASH FATALITY  
POLICE are investigating a fatal traffic crash at Maroochydore on Sunday evening, June 7.

Emergency services were called to a shopping centre carpark on Ocean Street shortly after 7.30 pm following reports a vehicle had entered the water.

Initial investigations indicate a white Mitsubishi Triton travelled into the water, where it became submerged.

Police and emergency services attended and rescued the driver, a 73-year-old Bli Bli man, from the vehicle. However, he was later declared deceased at the scene.

Investigations into the circumstances leading up to the incident are ongoing.

WOUNDING CHARGE, MAROOCHYDORE  
Police have charged a man following an alleged wounding at Maroochydore on the morning of Sunday, June 7.

Emergency services were called to Ocean Street at 4:20 am to reports of a man being stabbed.

Upon arrival, a 20-year-old man was located with serious injuries, and a crime scene was declared. Officers located a 32-year-old man nearby and took him into custody.

It will be alleged that a verbal altercation occurred between the two men, who are not known to each other.  The 32-year-old man has then allegedly stabbed the man with a knife, causing five wounds to his chest and abdomen.

The 20-year-old Bli Bli man was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The 32-year-old Maroochydore man has been charged with one count of wounding.  He was due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, June 8.
