WHAT a treat it was to see these incredible images of the Coolum Advertiser from way back in February 1992! Thank you to Councillor Taylor Bunnag and his family for keeping these old editions and for posting them online. Here at the Advertiser, our files and hard copies only go back so far, and we would love to see any old newspapers from the very early days, especially those from the early 1990s.

For anyone who has lived on the coast for some time, you may have witnessed quite a few extreme weather events featuring rain throughout the month of February. The second month of the year has proven to be one of the wettest with flooding events in our region in 1992, 1999 and the recent big wet in 2022.

These images are quite extraordinary, and the front-page article states that the region recorded a staggering 852mm in just 38 hours in 1992! Truly unbelievable.
