Each year the Coolum and North Shore fundraising calendars make their way to many distant parts of the world as presents and this year one made it Antarctica. Photographic submissions are now open for the 2027 calendar and will close on April 19. Photo: Contributed

NATURE lovers with a keen eye for photography are being asked to submit an image for the Coolum and North Shore 2027 calendar, and this year, there will be two pages dedicated to younger photographers.

The calendar serves as one of the main fundraisers each year for the not-for-profit group, and all money raised goes back into the many local environmental protection and advocacy endeavours CNSCC undertake each year.

The 2026 calendar, which was released late last year, has been a huge hit, and calendar coordinator Lutz Kramer said that it is thanks to the local community that it is so successful each year.

“We had an amazing response to our unique annual calendar, which showcases our beautiful coastal environs, and our 2026 calendars almost sold out by the end of January,” Lutz said.

“We have developed quite a following amongst locals and regular visitors who anxiously wait for the calendar to become available – what a success!”

Each year, local businesses stock the calendar and facilitate sales, and this year, CNSCC made it a priority to show how thankful they are for that support.

“We were able to hand out a small token of our appreciation to the places which sold the most, and those included The Shop in Coolum, the Coolum Native Nursery in Warran Road and Wagtail Coffee at Yaroomba.

“Coast Care thanks all the local businesses for their ongoing support, and without them, our fundraiser would not be such a success.”

To be in the running to be featured, CNSCC are looking for nature shots of our beautiful native landscapes, wildlife and flora, and photos must be submitted by April 19. If your photo is chosen, you will receive a free calendar, your name in print and an invitation to the calendar launch event.

“There is also the pride in knowing that you have helped Coolum and North Shore Coast Care with our volunteer work to preserve our natural environment and look after our turtles,” Lutz said.

What and how to submit
Strong nature images that capture the beauty from the Sunshine Coast to Noosa, including the hinterland and out to the ocean.

Suggestions include natural landscapes, local beaches, native flora, fungi, insects, birds, flying foxes, turtles, sea and land mammals and other native wildlife. CNSCC are especially keen to hear from local youth up to 18 years old and encourages them to submit their best local images.

Images must feature natural scenes – native wildlife and landscapes only, with no pets, weeds, buildings or people featured. People can submit a maximum of 10 photos per person, and they must be in a JPEG or RAW format. Please include with each image the location where it was taken, the subject, date taken and if it is from a youth photographer, please state this.

Photos can be sent in via email to calendar@coolumcoastcare.org.au or sent on a USB and clearly labelled ‘Calendar Submissions’, with your name, phone number and email, and dropped it into the Coolum Community Native Nursery, 157 Warran Road, Yaroomba.
