New pump track for Coolum
I’m VERY excited to share that construction of a brand-new pump track for Lions and Norrie Job Park will begin later this year. It will be a fantastic addition for our youth. This track will offer a safe and exhilarating space for young riders to hone their skills, stay active, and build a sense of community. Thank you to those who took the time to provide valuable feedback. Your input has helped Council to refine the design, and I can’t wait to see the fun our community will have! I’ll keep you in the loop when I know more about the timeframes.

A better trail for our community
During May, work will take place to improve 300m of trail surface along the Yaroomba Coolum Foreshore Reserve, just south of the Third Bay carpark entrance. This will make the path easier to navigate by reducing the number and height of steps. Council hopes to encourage walkers to stick to the designated route to protect our beautiful vegetation. The trail will be temporarily closed during construction, with signage in place to advise of the alternative routes available.

First Bay Saturday work
Due to delays from Cyclone Alfred and recent heavy rains, landslip repair works at First Bay, Coolum, will now include ongoing Saturday works. These will involve site preparation for the following week’s drilling, using an excavator and small truck, with minimal noise. This schedule aims to reduce overall inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding with these changes.

Ideas to connect Coolum
Do you have ideas on how to improve the connection between Coolum’s foreshore and Jack Morgan Park? Council has put forward ideas for your feedback as part of the Coolum Connections project, which include refreshed pavement, new landscaping, seating, improved street trees, and new lighting. Head to haveyoursay.sunshinecoast.qld.gov to review the plan and provide your feedback before May 12.

Jack Morgan Park safety
In response to the escalating issues at Jack Morgan Park, I organised a joint meeting between Council, Dan Purdie, Coolum Police and some of the surrounding groups to discuss the issue and possible solutions.  Thank you to those involved, and for your suggestions and future actions.
