HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY TO ALAN GEORGE
RESIDENTS from Sundale at Coolum Waters and the Coolum Croquet Club recently held two special celebrations to mark the 100th birthday of Alan George, who was born on October 7, 1926, in Melbourne.
Daughter Paula Savage said that Alan only just went into care at Sundale and that he was living independently with his now-late wife in the Coolum area from the late 90s.
An avid sports lover, Alan loves watching tennis, following the Collingwood AFL team and Brisbane Lions, and for many years he was an active member of the Coolum Croquet Club.
The Coolum Croquet Club held a special celebration for Alan and aptly refer to him as ‘the legend’. Alan was still playing croquet at the age of 93 and, with his wife Sally, joined the club in 2007 at the age of 80.
Alan became President of the club in 2013 and continued in that role for three years, and for his incredible service and passion for the game, is on the memorial honour board twice.
Alan also still enjoys reading and started out in the army when young and worked as an engineer. A very happy birthday, Alan!
