TAFE QLD offers 100 scholarships to help students reach their goals

LOCALS looking to study, change careers or build new skills are being encouraged to apply for a share of 100 scholarships being offered by TAFE Queensland this year.

Applications opened on July 6 and will remain open until September 30, with each scholarship worth $5,000 to help students cover the costs of studying.

The scholarships can be used towards course fees, textbooks and living expenses while completing a TAFE Queensland qualification, from a Certificate III through to an Advanced Diploma, Bachelor or Master’s degree.

Courses are available across more than 60 campuses throughout Queensland as well as online.

The scholarship program is now in its 11th year and has awarded more than $3.7 million to almost 800 students since it began, helping people overcome financial barriers to further education.

TAFE Queensland chief executive officer Tim Rawlings said the scholarships were designed to give more people the chance to pursue training and qualifications that could change their lives.

“We know the power vocational education and training has to change people’s lives, and we want to help people fulfil their career potential regardless of their circumstances,” Mr Rawlings said.

The program has supported students from a wide range of backgrounds, including school leavers, people returning to study and those looking to change careers.

“Whether you’re just starting out or looking for a fresh start, now is the time to take the leap. We want to hear your story.”

More than 1,000 people apply for the scholarships each year, making the program highly competitive.

Anyone planning to enrol in an eligible TAFE Queensland course is encouraged to apply now, with applications for the grants closing on September 30. Successful recipients will be able to use the funding to support their studies and reduce the financial pressures that often come with further education.
